Grade II Parents’ Walk-In: A Celebration of Interdisciplinary and Experiential Learning

December 3, 2024

Suncity School organised a remarkable Grade II Parents’ Walk-In event on Thursday, 5th December 2024, that brought together interdisciplinary learning, cultural heritage and the theme of the month-Transportation and communication. This initiative offered parents a glimpse into their children's holistic learning journey, highlighting how education extends beyond textbooks to embrace creativity, critical thinking and global awareness.

The Parents’ Walk-In served as a platform where students explored the significance of transportation in modern life while tackling challenges symbolised by VUCA—volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity. The young learners creatively demonstrated how innovative solutions can pave the way for a sustainable future. Emphasising global goals, the event highlighted SDG 13 (Climate Action), underscoring the role of transportation in achieving these objectives.

This innovative approach to learning not only helped the students revise their topics but also provided parents with a glimpse into the holistic and experiential teaching methods at Suncity School. By integrating the rich history of Qutub Minar, the programme added a unique dimension, connecting the past with the future.

The event celebrated experiential learning through dynamic presentations across subjects. The English team enthralled the audience with their innovative Onomatopoeia Orchestra, featuring sound words and a poem about Qutub Minar to connect language with history. The EVS presentation shed light on traffic challenges and sustainability, including a virtual tour of Qutub Minar, tying the monument to SDG 13 (Climate Action). Mathematics activities engaged students and parents alike, demonstrating division and fractions with practical, everyday examples, while the music segment transported everyone to the Delhi Sultanate era with renditions of traditional instruments and Raag Bhupali.

The trip to Qutub Minar was a unifying thread, celebrated across disciplines through art, historical narratives, and sustainable development discussions. This vibrant event reflected Suncity School’s commitment to fostering well-rounded individuals who respect heritage and champion responsible global citizenship. It left parents inspired by their children's achievements and strengthened the vital partnership between the school and its community.

Suncity School extends its gratitude to all parents for their active participation and
continued support, making this event a resounding success.
